Query on BWA only Cube

I have a query on a BWA only cube. The cube is on top of a DSO and is currently indexed in BWA. The query is running fine.

What happens if BWA goes down? The query will fail/not return any results. Does the query bypass the BWA only cube and go against the DSO if BWA is down?

I tried to run a query in my development system which does not have BWA. The query returns 'No applicable data found' even though there is data in the DSO.

Is this a disadvantage of having a BWA only cube? In case of standard cubes, the query will go against the cube if no BWA indexes exist.
